Any ideas on how old this rod and reel is? I was my great grandpa's
Looks like a spring steel rod, I'd guess about 100 years or so based on old equipment my Grandfathers used.

* I might be off a couple of decades but Google Foo says that the steel rods were used from the late 1800's through both world wars to somewhere about the end of the 40's.

Yes its definitely spring steel and there are no markings or numbers on it anywhere. I have never researched it or have ever seen another one anywhere. It still works and the line must be the old dacron, thank God no one let me play with it when I was a child

It's a Hurd Caster or Super Caster, and may say on the reel. Made in Michigan probably in the mid to late 1940's, value would be $100 plus based on condition, missing parts, etc. They are very collectible.
