Old school side slappers

Am I the only one who likes to hunt the muzzleloader season with the old skool t/C cva side slappers. I love using my old renegade and shooting real black powder with a prob or a 350 gr maxi ball and 80 gr of the ffg I have a modern inline but feel more blackpowderious with my old skool gun.

Definitely not the only one...I evolved through T/C caplocks in the early 90's then spent the most memorable 20+ years of my hunting life learning about / using Flintlocks & PRB's.

Thank you sir, you have been an inspiration in my use of patched round balls. It's more of a challenge for me than my knight.

I plan on using my T/C New Englander this year. Picked up a .54 cal barrel for it, so that is the gun for this fall.

Been using a CVA Mountain Rifle the last4 years.

Have only ever used a patched round ball.

Yep. You gave me that same exact answer back when I was talking about practicing shooting a compound bow at 60, 70, and 80 yards a few years back.

I'll definitely be blowing some smoke at'em this year, just haven't decided yet which will get the duty first, the 54 Renegade or the 45 Kentucky....

I still hunt with my investarms 50 caliber. Did I say I love that set trigger. Molding some 250 grain R.E.A.L bullets from a Lee mold This gun likes those bullets

I hunted a few years with my Investarms .54 cal. Really like the gun, but have somehow accumulated way too many .54 cal and this one has been moved to the back and just sits there and I hunt with other guns mostly. Really good gun though.

I just ordered a skinner peep sight for mine, I think that should do it for me.

I have tried a peep sight on my Marlin. Had to remove it for a scope as well.

Lyman Great Plains 50 with PRB…for the patch, I use an old flannel shirt. 70 grains pyrodex.
