Wife just has to redo these old rockers...don't know if these bottoms are hemp rope or not....some wood is walnut and some oak.....if this weave is hemp, what can she treat it with20220606_182859.jpg20220606_182745.jpg

We have redone a few chairs and stools that were like that. We cut it off and redid with stuff from the craft stores. Some type of fabric stuff that makes a checkered pattern.

This stuff is still very strong.....doesn't need to be replaced, just wondering what to put on it to maybe preserve it a little....had a couple of old cushions on them .....the ties were basically dry rotted.....wife said hose em off they will be ok.....you must understand, she is from WV......no more needs to be said....

If I'm not mistaken, that is twisted paper, believe it or not. BLO or tung oil might help preserve it but it would be a while before you could sit in it without zebra striping your clothes.

Check the internet for "The Wicker Woman" to find Youtube vids, tutorials, supplies, and you can contact her for recommendations for treating your paper.
