everyone ranks duck hunting success differently. For many, or most, it's a pile of birds and a limit. For some it's just being in God's great outdoors and having the opportunity to see the World wake up. So just go at it, do you. Doesn't matter where you are in the State there are birds around, if you're willing to find them. If you want to goose hunt the next month the resident season opens - and in your neck of the woods you'll see a bunch of geese.

Did someone say yadkin? And duck hunting? In the same sentence? I’ll have you to know that high rock lake is home to a very large population of migratory waterfowl. Those multicolored daffy mallards migrate from dock to dock. There are tons of them around any of the docks in swearing, crane, second, or Abbott’s creeks. You can hunt as close to the docks as you want legally and have a dang good time waking up bill, dale and Erwin at zero dark thirty when they’re “pets” that they’ve been “feeding all their lives” come swimming into the spread. You need a lot of Robo’s though and the loudest hail call you can blow. It always helps to get out there right at LST as well and make sure you set up really close to someone else who decided to camp 2 nights prior to the season opener so that you know you’re in a good spot. Don’t worry about scouting, the ducks are there. If you follow this advice you’ll be successful before you know it. Good luck!
