He’s bought a lot of land and then sold it at a discount to the state or nature conservancies. Like the 1100 acre brushy mtn tract that should be coming into the gamelands program in the next couple years.

Good on him for doing something worthwhile with his wealth.

He utilizes conservation easements heavily, but he was always a nature nerd growing up so its more than just tax breaks for him.
I agree^^. The tax breaks just make it a little easier. Also easier to justify to the spouse and accountants. I suspect most of us have used similar logic when justifying purchases to the wife! I know I have! :) Though to be fair, she is pretty onboard with most of them anyway. Especially outdoor recreation related!

No hunting on state parks but still its now public land we can visit
