As they say in the homebuilding trade: 'a little caulk, a little paint, makes it what it ain't'

Or as a carpenter (questionable at best) that was working for one of my friends years ago installing rather expensive backing in one of his bathroom showers acted and actually said in our presence: using his tape to sorta measure for cutting the material and it ending up rather short, grabbed his caulking gun and said " I love this stuff, anything I screw up, it covers up". I was appalled and needless to say, he was told to not return.

I remember when an inspector wanted us to caulk around the toilet base for a final the first time.

I made sure he heard me tell my helper to remove the caulk after he left. 😀
