did you use the shims to help with poi. I’ve read a lot of people complaining of poi issues but have never seen it with the benellis I have or have shot
No, shot field loads fine, could have been the kicks choke, dunno why they do this but it’s fairly common. I know they are designed to put a portion of the pattern high from factory. can shoot doves with that gun lights out, just didn’t tote it turkey hunting.

My gen 1 SBE shot exactly where it was pointed, kick myself everyday for selling that gun.

No way I’d let my sbe1 go. I’ve got it and my grandfathers montefeltro 20ga that’s even older than my sbe1.

I’m not smart enough to know which way to bend it.

Plus I’ve gone to far down the rabbit hole looking for a different gun to turn back now. I ordered a Retay 20 ga turkey a few days ago. Palmetto state armory had them for $650. That was a crazy deal. I’m hoping their extended forcing cone and center bored barrel is all it’s hyped up to be. Got a Jebs and Indian creek coming for it with a sum toy mount and a new fastfire III. As I said, I’m to far down the rabbit hole.

I finally held a 20 ga Turkey Fowl and really liked it… BUT the Mossberg 500 kills just fine
My problem is I’m getting old and getting tired of carrying a heavy gun. I can still walk all day with the best of them but I’m cutting back on anything I can. Especially when it come to weight. I’ve been shooting hawglips TSS for a long time. It made me rethink carrying a 12ga of any kind turkey hunting anymore.

My vest was always full of calls and anything else you wanted. I’ve cut that back to a chest pouch with three mouth calls two pot calls and two extra shells. I finish it off with lanyard with a wingbone and tube call around my neck. If it’s really windy I switch one of the pot call for a box. I’m downsizing in my latter years.

I hear yea. Might want to try something in the .585-.590 for chokes.

They are sweet little guns but Mine has trouble cycling shells. Not sure why but I went back to my Stoeger 3020 last year.
Yeah, time will tell. I put half a box of target 7 1/2's and half a box of high brass 6's through it, shooting clays just to break it in. It cycled both of those just fine.

It's not AS important with turkey hunting, IMO, as I almost never shoot twice, but when you need it, you need it. In my mind the biggest benefit of a SA in the turkey woods is reduced recoil, and often a lighter gun. Quick followup shots without additional sound/movement is a just a bonus.

Good luck I had one and it liked the Indian creek .562 the best. I sold mine because of cycling issues and it kicked more than my ATI turkey fowl

Dirty gas ring maybe? Weatherby Sa-08 shoots anything……until it doesn’t. 2 minutes to disassemble and clean gas ring and your good for another 150 rounds

Mine is brand new, and I haven't had any cycling issues. But yeah, most cycling issues I have had on autoloaders in the past could be cured by a good cleaning.

I've gotten myself a new Turkey gun as well. Leastwise that's what I'm using it for anyway.

Back to the Rem 11-87 issues....for those of us with 11-87 20 gauges that still have an intact carrier assembly. I read a thread on another forum this weekend(I think was started by OP) that you can remove the barrel seal activator(located between the o-ring and piston on the mag tube) to relieve some of the pressure when firing heavy loads. Its there to ensure the gun will cycle light field loads. I dont particularly care if my gun will cycle the light stuff anymore. Hopefully it will make it so there is not so much strain on the carrier and other internal parts....we shall see.

I Like my Turkey fowl it’s light and I like having the different chokes one for close and one for farther shots

You are correct it will. They are removed from both guns. It was removed when the one gun broke. I swear I think it has something to do with something not being aligned or manufactured correctly. A quality control issue with Remington. The gunsmith who is prototyping the part said they were not soldered on correctly in the late years and that’s why you see them breaking. The fact they are pot metal contributes to the problem

Just brought a Retay Massi Mari home, waiting on an Indian Creek Choke. Great feeling little gun, can't wait to shoot it. Have you tried yours?
