Easterns cannot be taken with bait in Texas
cannot or should not?
same as NC. we should not but well we all know the story.
plus texas doesn't consider it an issue in most of the state for turkeys.
so I'm going with easterns die over corn winter and spring in texas.

I am betting it is like the Morrow mtn. deer. More of a who you know thing. Soon as someone got on the board they became "overpopulated" and were moved to the reservation. No doubt NC footed most of that bill even though it was touted otherwise. Politics at it's finest.

From memory Texas has been struggling to have an eastern population in eastern part state forever at some point you gotta wonder if habitat can hold em maybe that's why they not there

Yeah, for some reason them east Texas piney woods never did do well with easterns...kinda' like where we hunt around here ;)
Must be a bunch of bad hatches out there too :)
