I had a polecat do that once, from the cutover.I had one pop out a knoll 4ft above me one morning,,,scared the out of me as my eyes were closed and he barked at me.he checked me out 4 times and got in reach of me,,was entertaining after I changed my underwear
That would be an Easter Phoebe. They are very tame little wild birds and like to hang out within feet of you, especially if you are digging and stirring up bugs, spiders and such. One landed on the hat of a city worker the other day while he was digging up my water meter box.here is one of my hunting buddies from a few years ago
