Moving on...

Have been contemplating getting out of the urban sprawl and congestion of North Raleigh for quite a while. Wanted to get closer to the coast, and the wife has been dragging my butt around looking at places from Beaufort NC to Murrells Inlet SC. Finally settled on either Washington or New Bern. Found a place on a little creek off the Trent River about 5 miles above New Bern and pulled the trigger. Sold the house in Raleigh in a week. Closed the sale on a Monday, and closed on the new place the next day.

The photo is the view I have for enjoying my morning coffee and evening bourbon. Just need to get up to Kerr Lake and move the deck boat to it's new home to complete the picture.

Anybody looking for a fishing buddy in the area, my schedule is flexible. Looking forward to learning how to fish the rivers, and also have a Grady White down in Morehead City for saltier adventures.

Thanks for all the congratulations and well wishes.

Yes, the neighbors say they see an alligator every now and then.

Yes, the block across the creek is several square miles of woods and swamp. Could be bears there. Have seen deer and raccoons.

Yes, have had a couple of fishing boats skull by slinging crickets on long poles. Watched them catch a few nice brim under my dock.

Yes, the quietest, most peaceful place I've lived since I was a kid.

I love the Trent river. Lots of bass. Plenty of bluegill and the like. Only explored it via kayak. It’d be a place I could certainly do retirement. You made a good choice. Congratulations!!

Happy for ya buddy, you'll like it down this way! I can't imagine living in all that congestion. I'm just a little ways from ya down in Pamlico County. I'm not on the creek but I can see it from here and the new neighbor just told me I could keep my little boat in the water at his dock on Alligator Creek... ;)

Awesome! Me and the better half are looking to move to NB in the next 20 years or so. We love it down there.
We’ve been contemplating the same thing, cept we are ready now. Would love to find something similar to what Harry found but really don’t want to take on any debt at this stage so just a house away from the congestion would suffice. Would also make it very convenient to the camp in PC, which is where I’ve been relaxing last few days.

Congrats Harry, that’s a great area and set up you have! 👌
