So the vote on election day had 2 of the top contenders separated by only 1 vote. Per the rules, there was to be a recount which took place and had both candidates tied. Again back to the rule book. If 2 are tied after a recount, the winner will be decided by a coin toss.

Well, new Mayor is in place today and it was the guy down by one vote. He chose tails.

Yes he is. We chatted a while when I went to vote. And after thinking about it, I'm ok with a coin toss at that point. 1/2 of the voters voted for each so going either way could be considered the choice of the people. They both did agree to the coin toss too.
