Lyme Disease...

Follow this advise. It’s no joke. You won’t even be able to hold the steering wheel on the top where the sun can shine on your hands.

This is true.
I just finished up my Doxy and I hate it.
It hurts to even look outside at the light.

I finally got out of the house on Tues. and took my kid to school and picked her up that afternoon. The morning trip wasnt too terrible, as we are only 4 minutes from the school, but the 15 minutes that I waited in the car line in the afternoon were horrible. My hands look like I stuck them in acid, skin just falling off.

After testing positive for it, people start finding out (work, church, etc.) about it and they want to talk.....
I never knew how many people had it, or suspected that they have/had it...but werent treated or tested for it because their Dr. did not believe that contracting Lymes disease in NC was even possible. Said there was no Lymes in NC. 😳

My PCP at first said “I’m not sure about ordering this blood test, there less than 1% chance you have Lyme disease from a tick bite in NC” I said well my tick was pulled off in Ohio and he said “well that changes things doesn’t it”. If not for tick bite from Ohio, I’m not sure he would have ordered the test and my symptoms were still spot on for Lyme disease. It MUST go super under diagnosed here for sure, they never brought it up, I did from reading and said what do you think??? I’m so glad I advocated for myself, even though I felt like I was “ going against them in my mind or being disrespectful as if I was saying I know what it is and you Dr’s don’t”,

A Lesson for us all. If we dont advocate it can become a problem.
Glad it was diagnosed finally and you are getting treatment you need.
Good Luck now with your recovery.

Well we all have a resource now with this thread to throw away that theory.
It is amazing the number of members we have that havehad/have lymes.

That is correct.
My trip to Michigan is what caused my Dr to order the test, but the timeline didn't match up....but just saying the word "Michigan" was all it took.

Very good friend told me that he had some concerning bloodwork results. Know his family history with cancer, so that news was concerning. Well, months pass and Dr. appointments happen. Something neurologic started some...can't remember for sure. At dad's farm, prior to a hunt, he tells me about then showed me something a little odd. On bottom of a foot, he had a dark bruise like spot size of a no. 2 pencil eraser. Think he said the spots on his lower leg developed after the one on his foot. At one appointment ticks came up and had pulled one off about a year prior. Tests, etc. determined lyme disease. He got the tick while on land in northern Scotland County, NC.

I have had it 3 times in the last ~15 years , all from NC......... last time was 6 years ago or so and I got it off the Rocky River portaging a dam.( a now removed dam) 3.3 cases per 100,000 in nc 2108 and 7.2 per 100,000 as the national avg but symptoms are that, SYMPTOMS. My doc figured it out easy ...............

My V.A. Dr. told me that Lyme was only in Conn. , after 2 years he sent me to tested . In my file he wrote sent patient to be tested for Lyme disease. It came back positive and I have a copy of the file.
You will have it in your body forever. If they can find it in a 3000 year old mummy we don't have much chance of getting rid of it.

Thats the way it happened for me Mack.
The first thing we have to establish is that its all about the Covid right now.
First thing they tested me for was Covid, Strep and Flu A/B....

Then I sat at home 3 days waiting for my Covid results to come back, while getting worse. Once it cleared and phoned me with the results they asked how I felt, which resulted in a follow up visit the next day.

Further testing was done. Even I didnt think about Lymes. I simply thought that I got into a bad batch of oysters and shrimp on Mothers Day.
They were looking at other things first, like upper GI tract issues ie; Diverticulitis, Travelers Diarrhea, etc....even checked me for Mono.

Ran into another PA at the office, that just happened to be a neighbor to my Mom, and was a hunter.

We started chatting about hunting. Turkey hunting, of course. He says "where you been" ?

I said Michigan.....Bingo.
The lights came on !!
Im sure they would have found it, but it wasn't first up on the radar.

Just sharing this so people know. Not gonna rail, but I was/am pissed that it was all about Covid first. But Im not ditching my provider. I love the Dr and staff that I see.
This mess has been crammed into their heads hard. The have mandated protocol that Im positive they must follow first, but sometimes people have something else wrong with then besides the Big C.

Doxycycline isnt that bad. i took it several years for acne.
no you dont want to sit on the beach in the sun all day but normal outdoor activities does not have any effect on you.
i got scared one year thinking i have rocky mount spotted fever but the doctor told me that it would be hard for me to catch it because of taking Doxy.
Ya'll must have thin skin

^I had a round of Doxy for rmsf, and I had no issues with light sensitivity either. Apparently it’s not that way for everybody.

Hope you boys get to feeling better soon(y)

As I told Ol Copper in pm...I’m glad I found this thread . Been feeling like I got hit by a truck the last few days. Of course my first thought was the China virus. Tested negative for that. Figured I just had a bug or somethin. By last night I was having heart palpitations, stiff neck, tingling fingers, jitters, loss of appetite, lethargy, sore back, dizziness, and that all around general “I’m all F’d up, somethin ain’t right” feeling. Was prepared to have the covid debate with the doc, even with negative test results on hand. Whole appointment with him took 5 min. He said it sounded like lymes to him as well. Started me on doxy right away while waiting to get blood work results. Not that I want lymes, but at this point I hope that’s what the diagnosis is....or they at least have another one for me from blood work. I haven’t felt this jacked up since I got off all the drugs n booze years ago . The thought of feeling this bad and not knowing the cause is pretty scary. I would’ve never thought to even go and get tested for lymes if I hadn’t seen this thread. I’ll keep y’all posted on results

and here,,, I thoight it was the stupid crap I did from youth to age 44,,,,
Hahah sir, that made me literally Lol which caused recoil in my aching extremities ...and then the thought of how pathetic it is (that laughter caused me pain) made me laugh some more. And to your point, I’m god awful about going to the doctor. Like you said...plenty of wear and tear on the body from yesteryears. It was the heart palpitations that got my azz in gear and get looked at. Plus I figure I’m paying for healthcare. Might as well use it !

I have really gotten better with the meds to this point. Thank God for a proper diagnosis. Follow up appointment with specialist in Winston Salem on Friday and see if she adjusts meds or what.

Glad you're doing better! I hate a d*** tick.

Hopefully the doxy will get you to feeling better. I swear ticks are democrats. Parasites, trying to keep the working man down.

I seem to be going thru a revolving door of symptoms that keep changing throughout the day. One minute ive got A and B, the next ive got C and D or any combo of the above. Really gonna be baffled if it’s not lymes. At least he started me on meds ASAP. Glad you’re rounding the corner. I told my wife I’ll be laying in bed and suddenly think I feel fine, but then just going and taking a piss has me tired and my muscles ache like I ran a marathon and got hit by a truck

I’m glad he started you on meds so quickly. I truly hope you get a solid diagnosis, it helped me immensely to have something to hate and work against. The feeling it all over your body sounds so familiar.
