Old Mossy Horns
What would you recommend if you were purchasing a modern muzzleloader today - caliber, make, model, etc.
Amazed there hasn’t been any innuendos made around that second sentence yetThese knurled, hand removable breech plugs can't be beat. Being able to knock your load out the back, if you don't get a shot, really saves on clean up.

Plus, they're only good for 200-300 shots and done.If you can afford it, smokeless… but I can’t justify a bill like that on a gun I’ll use 2 weeks a year. For the price it’s hard to beat a CVA.
If you are talking about smokeless muzzleloaders built for that purpose somebody has given you extremely bad information. There are plenty of guns out there with well over 2000 rounds and the barrel isn't burned out much less blown up. There is one in my safe with close to 300 rounds through it and it looks like new.Plus, they're only good for 200-300 shots and done.
More, and you could blow it up.
