You do know I was just joking. Absolutely nothing personal.
I grew up in Gaston Co. Live in Lincoln now.

It was a spin on WoodMoose's
"Dang Invasives" quote.

No problem and no offense taken. I've lived in the same house since moving here 44 years ago. Gaston County has been good to us and there are plenty of much worse places to hang one's hat.

So I took the Lever Action Challenge this weekend and blew it. Daddy is shaking his head is disbelief as I freaking blew a 110 yard chip shot with his old rifle. I'm sure I slapped the trigger instead of squeezing the trigger. At 45 years old, buck fever gets to me every time.

It's alright, man. We all suffer some of that just about every time. Sometimes it's worse, sometimes not so bad.
When you get to where a goodun don't get you excited, just stop hunting and do something else.
It's not the end of the world to miss one. (y)

Federal Fusion 300 grain.
I did put on a “sand to fit” field pad on it to calm it down a little. It shoots everything I’ve tried well, from 300-405grn. I’ve not done any hot Buffalo Bore or Petersens. I got a set of RCBS dies but am shooting up factory for brass for now.

My Dad is a .45/70 “nut”, he’s got an 1895 CB with the steel Crescent buttplate that he’s shooting some hard cast 405 grs in. He’s loading them “hot”, and that thing is a handful, so I can certainly appreciate the addition of the recoil pad!

Congrats on a fine buck!

I’ll run 4 or 5 rounds through it at the bench, but that’s about all I care for honestly.

That is also the most likely reason it took him almost a year to get a load worked up for that thing...lol!!!

I’m over here drooling at that .375 Win, and I don’t even know which one it is...lol!!!

At the rate I’m going, I’m just gonna have to wait until my FIL passes before I’ll get my mitts on one... lol!!!
get you a deal on a Marlin 30-30 and have it Re bored to 375. Cheaper than a Factory 375... You can et it re bored at JES for 250 bucks.

That https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1115334145 looks like it belongs on the gun and isn’t that hard to put on with a little care if he needs some relief.

That’s a lot of wood to remove with it having the Crescent (curved) buttplate....

I think now that he’s got a load worked up for it, the recoil isn’t going to be a worry. A few shots to check it before season, whatever shots he might take at a critter, and a few shots here and there just punching holes in water jugs for fun are about it for that rifle now I’d say

I guess I'm always taking the challenge. My favorite gun I've owned for 32 years. Its my go to weapon. I reach past others just to bring it. The pistol I've never killed with it but just might happen this year. Gonna try to secure my badass status with my son. To old to jump on them with a knife so this will have to do.

The old ones dont have a safety. You have to ride the hammer while pulling the trigger. Same as a cocked revolver.
Mack has “crossbolt” safety off in his pic letting the halfcock position of the hammer perform the job of a safety like you do on the older ones.BW was being sarcastic in his post and i think that was missed. But anyway im in.....
