My son and I left home headed to Harkers Island on Tuesday evening. We started out fishing around Cape Lookout and Shackleford Banks. We were picking up short Spanish and blues. We gave it our best shot, but didn't find the fish we were looking for. We fished Wednesday and Thursday.
On Friday morning we left Harkers at 3:30am on the way to Snead’s Ferry on the trailer. We went out of the New River Inlet about 7:00 and started tolling south. We picked up some blues and then started to pick up the Spanish. Right around the Seaview Pier area we started catching some good fish.
We trolled south until we got to the first water tower past the pier. Along the way we caught 11 keeper Spanish and not a single throw back except for the blues we were picking up on the turns when we would slow down. All of these were caught on Clark Spoons behind #1 and #0 planers. They really loved the pink.
