Lake Sutton Catfish

Enjoying the saltwater thing a lot here lately but i've got the itch to catch a flathead. Has anyone catfished Sutton much since Hurricane Florence? Not looking for anybodies honey hole, just wondering if its worth pulling the boat down there for.

If you are traveling down there for flat heads I would fish the cape fear or black rivers . I have bow fished it since Florence and there is still plenty of fish in there. The boat was owned by a pro from Ohio and was the most impressive bow fishing rigs I have seen. No much we didn't see in two nights there . Not many big fish.

I fished it some several years ago. There are flatheads in there but lots of places in the area much better.

Sutton has decent flatheads. Better fishing at night due to how clear water is. Put in at Lock #3 or 2 on cape fear and use live bait and you’ll catch flatheads.
