It's time... I'm looking for a squirrel dog pup to start.

Ok, braintrust. I'm starting the process for getting a pup to start on squirrels next Spring...

I didn't talk about it on here, but my sweet girl Chloe the German Shorthair died extremely suddenly in January at 10yo...
It blew. Didn't get a chance to spoil her. I miss her every day.

Wife is trying to prod me to at least start talking about a new pup.

What kennels should I talk to? Leaning towards the feist side, but could be persuaded otherwise.
Main reason for the smaller dog is I'm planning on (selfishly) using the training and hunting to get my little girl out in the woods more with me, and I want her to be able to handle the dog. She's five and a half now, so she'd be helping me train when she's six. I also want to have something we can do together when she's 13 and Dad is a 4-letter word....

Let me know your thoughts, good and bad.

I've had two feist style dogs - and they are excellent - both of mine were silent until treed, and then were mediocre at tree barking, but wouldn't leave the game until it was dead or they were lead away
 
He's a heck of a squirrel dog and will walk at your side until you release him.... but that first cast could be a big one last year he went straight line away 1300 yds and treed. Got to him shot the squirrel and before it hit the ground he was gone after another one. Had two limits by the time we got back to the truck.... still cant figure out why he couldn't have found the close ones first

same as Fireduck said that is one good looking dog.
 
I thought we had a member here that raised treeing feists. My memory may be off. We prefer to keep our dogs 400yds or under. We lazy
