I remember you having your 410 at squirrel camp. That little gun with your setup is awesomeI bought a 410 when my grandson was born to set up for him to use when he is old enough to hunt. I wanted him to inherit a gun from me that I actually used because my most prized possessions are guns I inherited from my grandfather that he hunted with. Every gobbler I've killed in the past 4 years has been with the 410. Not because it's cool but because it's a dream to carry in the woods and it's a legitimate 40 yard gun. I won't shoot a gobbler over 40 no matter what weapon I'm using. When the time comes I will give the gun to my grandson along with the stories that go with it. I will then set up another turkey gun, I'm leaning towards a 28 guage.
What?? No one carries a 24 or 32 gauge?? Ya'll all sticking to the big bores?? "Cmon, let's be a little Sporty!!!
28 gauge could fit the bill. Nothing wrong with it. Nothing wrong with a 6.5. They have just become trendy.
Settle down there, Cool BreezeI’ve owned a 28 gauge since 1977, never knew I was part of the “trend setting crowd”
Bingo! In the past 3 years I’ve set up a 12 gauge, 20 gauge and now in the process of setting up a .410. All of these are purely turkey guns and are dang good guns. Even with the combos I’m shooting I don’t want to shoot one past 40 yards. Could I? Absolutely I could, but I don’t want to and that’s just my opinion. All these guns will one day be passed down to my kids. I’m excited to get my .410 set up and tote it around next season.I bought a 410 when my grandson was born to set up for him to use when he is old enough to hunt. Agreed!16 gauge is where its at.
Don't worry. Most of us folks who appreciate the 6.5 don't suffer from either of those afflictions. That's just internet flack being thrown by folks who apparently have something to compensate for.I hope it aint the new 6.5
We killed a couple this year with the .410 and I like it, but I dont want to grow a man bun and drink any latte's
A LOT of deer are taken with the 6mm/243s and 5.56mm/.223s.it is true- both apparently are the "least" gun commonly used by deer and turkey hunters.
Give the turkey hunters time - they are a weak bunch and need something lighter than those heavy .410s.
I have suggested rat shot tss loads for . 22s.
Figure federal will have those next.
Great thread @ezdemon72.

retro trend setters!
im speaking more to the resurgence of the 28. They are fun guns. Does it do anything a 20 doesnt? No, but its fun to shoot.
i would have expected the 16 to bounce back before the 28 but i missed that.
Sounds like I need one!Random thought on 16 guage- Anyone have a clue why a model 12- 16 gauge has recoil worse than any 12 gauge shooting any load you can imagine?
Any thing special about the model 12? Are they all recoil monsters?
A wise, old, like ancient, grumpy, ugly, baccer chewing, coon huntin, deer runnin, man (@nccatfisher) told me, and is true…. A 16 will do everything a 20 will but not everything a 12 will. True enough, though I enjoy shooting dads 311 16ga
