Huge tuna....little boat

question. noticed that they didn't gut the fish even after hanging it from the tree. Would the meat be any good still?
I've always heard they need to be cooled asap, gutted, bled and iced up quickly. any tuna I've ever caught or seen caught have been quickly iced up at least.

Nice catch! The story is a little exaggerated by the news. They were certainly expecting to catch a bluefin being rigged up with a harpoon and block and tackle. My buddy caught one off wrightsville a few years ago in an 18' bay boat.

Got me beat, my son and I caught a 74" bluefin on a 19' Grady Tournament many years back. Hooked 3 that day: one came unbuttoned, one broke off 200 lb mono when I tried to wire it at the boat and we got the third one in. All the fish we wanted to handle.

Cool story, that would be awesome but I have a question..... wouldn’t that make your boat very unsafe? Little boat, long ride in, massive weight... just curious.
