How many poults have you seen?

I hate to use the term, but this has to be generational😎 I’ve never seen this many poults, across such a tremendous swath of ground…it’s truly glorious. 2026 is gonna be🔥🔥🔥
Damn man way put pressure on an old fat man if I come up empty handed that year I'll never be able raise my head above shame. No excuses I guess

The pair of adult hens with the 7 poults left here about a week ago, which is earlier than usual. The lone hen with 5 poults still comes around every day. Not sure where the bigger gang went or why? The group of 7 were at least three weeks older than the 5 poults, so they should be fine wherever they've gone. Spreading genetic diversity across the countryside is a good thing.

Saw another hen with 4 this morning, been curious about that bunch all summer but they planted tobacco so not visible from the road until they pulled it.

Getting tough to tell them apart these days.

We had 2 hens and ten poults in our front yard yesterday. I quit hunting them a few years back but enjoy seeing them on our place. ;)

Lil Copper and I quit counting turkeys today in Union Co, SC

As QBD2 said above, they are almost to the point that you cant tell them apart, but just guessing I'd say we saw 30+ poults, and prolly 15+ mature birds. Close to 50 either way 🤷🏼‍♂️

Gives me hope for 2026

Up at the camp I saw a ton of turkeys in the fields. When I was hunting I had at least 19 in the field with me for over an hour. There were seven mature birds and at east 12 poults of all sizes down to three that I wasn't so sure they even had feathers. I'm guessing there was a double hatch up there with that last batch being very young.

We’ve got an 18 acre field on our new farm, and it lay fallow this year. So it’s chest high rag weed in corn stubble. And it is FULL of birds. Saw a gobblers head, and he squatted when he saw us. I may have gotten out and tried to catch him🤣🤣🤣 To be fair, he was probably only 10 feet when he boiled outta there!

But you get quiet, and you start hearing all the kee Kees and low yelps over the field❤️IMG_7882.jpeg
