How many of you were checked by a Wildlife Officer this season?

Not this year. Ive been checked a few times in NC mostly fishing on the lake. Ive been checked in every other state ive hunted in....ive honestly never had a bad experience. heck the one in Wyoming showed us the best part of the unit to go to.

I was checked in Caswell Co by a rookie GW. The other 3 GWs sat in the truck and yucked it up.

Usually we get one visit a year at the club, always been pleasant, they usually just stop by and chat for a bit, We’re staying in the landowners building so permission is pretty much a given and we don’t kill enough deer to be of any interest!

Just curious.

This includes Wild Turkey season to date?
And if so, were you hunting public or private lands?
Been checked twice this year. Both at the same spot. One on the dove opener and another this past Saturday when I was going for deer.

Got woke up from a mid day nap by a GW. Didn't check for my license, just making sure I was alive.
2 Bass fishermen on in a cove of Falls lake did that to me one afternoon after I stayed up all night and left my climber up at head height while I tried to catch a "20 min nap" that turned into 1.5 hour snoozer. They were about to dial 911 when they heard me snore and hollered. They said "We figured you were dead when that nice buck walked right past you". Sadly this is 100% true.

Been checked twice since my last post in this thread. One of those in alamance county and one in Montgomery county. Both times I was fishing public water.

Best I can recall been checked about 5 times in my 59 years- never during turkey- always deer or ducks
Spend more time conversing with them when I call them for trespass assistance! About once a year!

I havent been checked in years. Ive lived here for 22 years and only been checked at a boat ramp prior t launching for a safety check, once in a dove field and once coming out of uwharrie NF. None of those times were in the last 10 years.

I've always said "If deer had guns, we'd all be dead"

Back during the summer I was stopped on Jordan Lake to tell me that a portion of the lake was restricted while the military was training water parachute landings.

there also is a military "base" within a couple miles of Jordan. top secret (some know but the govt doesnt talk about it) its 30 stories deep.

added the info on it now says its private but for some reason I keep seeing military choppers go in and out all the time. And for peeps sake dont drive up to the gate and sit there. machine gun toting guys will be there quickly.

I got checked 4 times in one day while fishing around Southport. Once by the CG, once by DMF and twice by the game wardens.

Hunt private land & have never been subject to a license check.

I have had to talk to the police on two different occasions when neighbor’s called to report noise complaints due to gunfire-oddly enough, it wasn’t me either time.

Had to call the game warden a couple of times for trespass issues. That’s been my only hunting interaction with them.

We used to get stopped once or twice a summer by Wildlife or Coast Guard for safety checks when my Dad had his boat. So, like others, significantly more interaction on the water than while hunting.

Interesting you posted this. Last night I was in apex and for about 30 min two Apache’s orbited or wagon wheeled the entire beaver creek shopping center. Checked squawk and both were on and then turned off for a while and then turned back on. City folks thought it was life flight until I told them they save lives with 30mm rounds. Dang I got some strange looks.

Lived and hunted here (same house and farm) for 30 years and never been checked here until today!! He saw my truck while patrolling and came back and pulled me as I was turning in my driveway. The stand I hunted is the only one I drive my truck around to as it’s around the corner and have to drive by road or walk thru neighbors property.
We talked about 35-40 minutes. Great chat and he was very friendly!!

Had 2 come up on me and my wife when she got her 9pt last weekend for first time, both were nice and excited for her harvest. She has her life time license but didn't know she had to update it in her cart to have new report card so they Could of got her for that but walked her through it.

Good cop, bad cop experience @ the pier on North Topsail Beach. Two Dept. of Marine Fisheries Officers asked to check our coolers. One was dead pan serious & the other had a pleasant personality. We were legal of course & then "Wyatt Earp" asked to check my tiny lunch pail, which @ most could have held a soft drink & sandwich. This guy took his job way too serious.

You should have told him there were no donuts in it

Last time I was checked was on July 4. I was at a popular fishing spot in the afternoon, and watched the GW check half a dozen people, before coming up to me. Before he could say a word, I said, "Why are you checking licences, Isn't today a free fishing day?" He acted puzzled, and then got on his radio. When he turned back around, I had my wallet in hand, "Do you want to check them?" "No, I guess, I don't" . I then asked, "Why aren't you on the lake today, with all the masses?" He then indicated that he had already been on the lake all morning, and was just kicking around 'til quitting time. Dude then walked back to his truck and drove off. I wondered to myself how many license tickets he had written that day :ROFLMAO:

I pulled into the boat ramp Thursday morning and the gw was leaving lol I thought he might circle around the parking lot to give me my monthly check but he went on. Probably recognized me.

Nah....he was too busy heading home because he left something outside that had to put up before it rained...
