Anyone here ever hunted them?

Having completed the Grand Slam has me dreaming of one day , Lord willing, doing the Royal w a Goulds and the World w the Oscellated.

I’ve killed a few. It’s not a great time to go try in Mexico right now, at least where Goulds are. Which you probably weren’t going this year anyway. Next year might be better, who knows.

You can always apply for an Arizona tag. The period for a preference point is coming up soon(fall draw and just take the point) then apply again for spring draw. It’s a long shot but you can get drawn with one point.

The NWTF usually has a couple of New Mexico tags for auction at the convention. I don’t know what they went for this year but it’s probably not that far over what the Gould’s hunt in Mexico would be.

El Halcon or Rio Sonora Outfitters would be who I would look at going with for Gould’s. The latter is the better but he didn’t run any hunts this year and is unsure about next year.

He’s on the shady side all the way around. I’ve heard this from reliable people that have dealt with him. Nobody has problems if they get the desired end result, it’s just a problem when they don’t.

Is it due to safety issues I assume?

Thought about Arizona BUT stats show it can be a low % success rate on the hunt YET meeteater drew and it was ridiculously easy

Yeah safety, Chihuahua is not a great state to go to right now. If you fly into Mexico and especially Chihuahua be careful at the airport, heard of a few different people getting shaken down for money there.

Be years of planning before I go… and let my daughters get much older so that if 💩 goes south safety wise for me, it’s not so hard on them or mama

get Global Rescue,,,or some such,,, they MAY be able to get you if stuff goes south,,,,

or coordinate with some friends,,,, but some places are costly to get extracted from in an emergency,,,

Interesting on this. I’ve never seen a negative from that outfit. I’m in the process of gathering info from different outfitters for my hunt down there in 27’. Not sure if you’re able or willing to expand more but if you can just PM.

I'd wait until Pres. Trump sends our troops to scatter the cartels......I've heard scary stories of being searched and abused by guys on guided hunts,...

Ya’ll crazy to chase a turkey in Mexico where you need an extraction plan! To each their own, for me there isn’t a turkey in the world I’d risk not coming home to the family for.

Maybe things will improve but I’m guessing it’s going to be a while.

The Goulds is very high on my list.
I probably wouldn't need an extraction plan, or worry much, they wouldn't want me anyways.
I aint got nothing to offer and the wife sure won't pay a ransom 😎😬
