Wondering if y’all feed before a hunt or feed after a hunt?

I always try to feed 8-12 hours before.

Why is that? I usually try to feed a few hours before Running coon dogs
Back when I had dogs I fed as close to the same time everyday regardless of hunting, field trialing or sitting in the pen. 5-6 pm.

I always fed after. I always looked at like a human. If you sit and fill your belly with food you not going want jump up from table and run a marathon. I see a dog in same way

makes since like Joesam said feed the same time everyday but I can see where you’re coming from just like us after a meal ready for a nap.

Yeah basically what I was trying to say is feed after hunting because 8 to 12 hours later we will be hunting again. A vet told me it takes around 8 hours (if I remember correctly) for the dog to fully digest his food and it can cause problems if you don’t.
