In a .410Federal tss sucks no matter the prices
I’m waiting on Federal’s reply to my email I sent a week ago about their 5,6,7 blend of 3rd Degree not being as advertised.
Purchased 3 boxes (5 shells/box) of their 20 ga. Turkey loads. On the box, it gave the typical payload of weight and speed, along with stating it was TSS 18gm/cc. No mention of any other shot material, etc. Later on I was looking on their web site and found my product. When looking at the verbiage, it revealed that only 40% was #7 TSS18. The other pellets were 40% Flight Stopper #6 lead and the remaining 20% were copper plated #5’s. As mentioned above, no indication that it contained anything but tss18. So what I bought were expensive lead shot blended with some tss. This is blatantly wrong advertising and I have asked Federal to provide me with what I thought I was purchasing. Heck, they took it a step further than Hevi Shot ever did my just flat out lying what’s in the box. Not a happy camper…
Not The 3rd degree but their straight TSS none of them shot consistently good in my guns. There are some federal ammo I like but not their new line turkey ammo
Every gun/choke will be diff. My main issue was one shell would shoot good but the next or 3rd would not really inconsistent. Apex and Nitro both out performed them by decent amt in my Remm and Moss.In my 20ga 301 Stevens the Federal #9 TSS shot patterns at 30-50 yards better than any of the other loads I tried. The boxes I have of it are the older gold colored boxes.

I’m sure you know acetone or rubbing alcohol will remove it. My bud removed his then spray painted them back with raptor liner in a can and it’s pretty good.I have killed 6 birds now with TSS. Four with my 12 and 2 with the 20. It has performed amazingly. That stuff flat out kills. Only reason I have it was I found it on sale several years ago at 1/2 price. Not going to lie, I'm addicted. Absolutely the best killing stuff I have ever shot. I bought my daughter a 20 gauge BPS 5 or 6 years ago. Well she quickly moved on to a left handed Benelli M2. I was tired of it setting in the safe so I turkey hunted with it in 2021. Love it. Unfortunately it has the Dura touch crap on it. Plans are to send it back this summer and have them replace the stock. Then when I get it back put some type of red dot optic on it. At my age the weight difference is well worth it.
