Fall / Winter 2025/2026 weather thread

Just a dusting here in the valley. They issued 2hr delay about 5:30 but called off school at 6:30. Another snow day…………

Got enough in Person county to cancel schools. They haven’t been in 2 weeks. Today was supposed to be a 3 hr delay. I assume they might go tomorrow. My son said I hope we never go back 🤣
A few of these days were legit, but it’s flat out ridiculous at this point.

M went down with a bug MLK day, finally went back that Friday. Ain’t been back…
School board, admin, dot, county…line em up my wife is ready to throw hands😆

As I got closer to Kernersville from upper part of NC this morning the snow rapidly turned to ice pellets and the wrecks began....they were everywhere. It took a loooong time to get to work this morning.

We got a tiny bit of rain that’s about it of course they delayed schools for two hours for the grandkids because of what might’ve happened

Roads were pretty slick in my area this morning. Saw a couple cars in the ditch and several cars sliding around on the roads. I hit one slick spot myself and did a slip n slide. Be safe out there.

31 degrees, but just rain this morning. 2-hour delay was already in place. At least they're going back to school.

It's best for everyone if they get back in school, especially now that it's as much mud as icy snow outside.

I drove from Roaring River to Greensboro this morning. Couldn't get my Pilot out of the driveway were it was stuck yesterday. Its going down hill leaving and I backed in but she wouldn't go. Hopped in the truck and drove across the neighbors hay field to another driveway to get out. It was slick in spots but Forsyth County was way worse. I saw two cars off the road, I guess I beat the slick roads in. People kill me switching lanes and then braking or just driving crazy slow. Past a couple cars that couldn't have been doing more than 15-20mph, I wasn't flying but dang if you are that scared stay home.

Don't get me started on that BS. I drove my Honda back down to Brunswick county on Sunday and passed I don't know how many 4X4 trucks running 15-20 mph. Id be damn ashamed of myself if I were them...

2/5/25 Snowing again and this stuff is not melting right away. 34 degrees & 68% humidity. The only place it is not staying is the driveway, except where the ice is still present. 🙄

Another layer of snow in Ashe this morning. A little slick getting down to the main roads, but they we're fairly clear. This is sorta like the winters of old! Just saw the first road-killed skunk of the year yesterday. Spring is on its way!

We are entering full on skunk rut here. Last night we passed a fresh, fully aromatic roadkill, and 1 mile later there were 2 in full chase mode going right down the yellow line. I think the male had enough sense to peel off, but the female just kept running down the double yellow line for 2-300 yards. Didn’t seem concerned that there was a truck honking behind her.

We got about an inch up my way. Enough to make the roads, a little slick here and there. I say we start a petition. I have absolutely had my feel of it. Bring on the sunshine.

Some models are trying to give a some light snow for many parts ofNC tonight/tom as the big arctic front passes, it would mostly be flurry/light snow type activity and right now looks to not be a big deal if it happens at all. Right now the NWS is not giving it much if any of a chance of happening. Then this weekend will be very cold with temps staying at or below freezing for most of the state thru Monday at least. The winds will stay up with this cold front and wind chills will approach below zero values.

By mid next week though we will be well into the 50's for highs and near 60 along the coast. Then the models are kinda all over the place one run the pattern stays warm the next it goes back cold....

Put my request in for cold

Will be 98° and so humid my britches won’t turn me loose soon enough

Temp 9* and winds at 15 producing a wind chill of -7 here in southcentral PA this morning. Will be heading back to balmy NC in a few days, and looking forward to it. And I updated the time/date on weather station....

The wind is BLOWING.
This polar vortex is kicking today.
Hoping power lines don’t get damaged.
I can’t believe that it crossed my mind that I would put some Tyvek up today……

This am trees were blowing down, trash cans in the road , traffic lights swinging, and birds flying sideways.

I got blown down 4 times today trying to put up wall sheathing 😬

Winter is going to try again this weekend to bring snow to the state. This is much more of a typical setup with marginal temps etc. and could go either way with the best likely hood of snow across north and NW NC. This is of course if there is even a system at all as the models are very back and forth and it goes from a strong system to a weak one etc.
