Everyday diy stuff

I'm posting some of my diy or homemade stuff that is far from groundbreaking ideas or anything special but helps me save money. I hate paying for services or materials that I could do myself or make from scraps so if anyone on this forum can gain something from what I post it was worth my time to take a few pictures

Today I needed concrete for some post so I went to the creek and got about 400 lbs of gravel, coarse sand to mix. I'm not buying rocks and sand when I got plenty at home just bought Portland cement. Got to get this extension of the chicken lot done before next week it's past time to get some hunting done. Still peeling poles and stacking to dry

The smaller ones I will just saw a flat spot like where you would bird mouth a rafter to sit on a top plate. The larger ones with more taper I may cut down three sides on the big ends to lighten them up a little. Most of them will be used for rafters but I have some larger poles that I can run through the sawmill and get 4x4 and 4x6 out of. Leftovers from a thinning operation of loblolly pines, anything less than 16' they couldn't sell for pulpwood. Salvaging what didn't get busted up from the skidder running over them so most are tops of juvenile wood. I will probably have to use most of it whole because I'm not sure how well it will hold up being nailed until it all dries some
