Doves mating today or just love ?

Watched a pair of doves in the backyard today and at one point they did a head,neck rub 'dance' ? about 4-5 seconds,
then he mounted her. .. real brief like birds do, then they preened a bit. What up ?

Doves can raise as many as 6 broods a year.

Just saw a pair do the nasty on the powerline Thursday. They're worse than rats in a corn crib when it comes to producing offspring.
