I think its funny with all the ncsu and ecu talk when last year by games played wake forest was the best college team in NC and if anyone would have played them app st would have been second. Ecu was horrible state got beat by wake so no room to trash talk anyone and Carolina just flat out sucked.

our college football teams here have no chance at being powerhouses.
true fans will just have to be content to talk smack to other fan bases within the state and feel glory when the other schools lose.
Been that way: will stay that way. Hopeless cause.

If DD wins 7-9 at state year after year, there wont be many more years of him in Raleigh. imo.
Houston is going to be stellar in Greenville. no way but up for the pirates.
mack has hope alive in CH.
best off season vibe in awhile around NC college football.
If Houston is stellar in Greenville he won't be there long. ECU is not a destination job for a great coach. It's a solid stepping stone.

Figured this is as good a place to put it as any....... *WARNING LONG*

This is a post to expose 247 of obvious, yet hilarios bias towards UNC because of several things which will be pointed out later.

Already exposed was 2 players that made abnormally large jumps in 247 recruiting rankings in just a short period of time after committing to UNC in just this past recruiting cycle.

Now enter a 3rd one, Eugene Asante. On 1/15, Asante was ranked 1459. In a magical 3 weeks, he soared 1170 spots to 289.
He commits to UNC on 2/7.

What did he do in those 3 weeks to soar that high in the 247 rankings? Simply Amazing.

In the last 15 years I've compared 11 ACC teams with their average 247 recruiting ranking and their overall record during that time frame.

I mean the better the recruiting ranking should equal a better record!!??

Virginia Tech
Avg Recruiting Ranking - 27
Overall Record - 138-62

Miami
Avg Ranking - 16
Record - 114-75

GT
Avg Ranking - 51
Record - 113-81

Duke
Avg Ranking - 59
Record - 71-125

Virginia
Avg Ranking - 41
Record - 80-104

Florida State
Avg Ranking - 7
Record - 137-62

Clemson
Avg Ranking - 16
Record - 150-51

Pittsburgh
Avg Ranking - 38
Record - 103-86

Syracuse
Avg Ranking - 53
Record - 73-111

NC State
Avg Ranking - 42
Record - 94-93

North Carolina
Avg Ranking - 28
Record - 95-95

As you can see a few things jump out.

There's 3 teams with a higher ranked recruiting average with a better record than UNC. How?

Virginia Tech has averaged 1 spot better than UNC but has won a boatload more games.

NC State averaged 14 spots lower than UNC, but yet has a better record.

GT has been woeful according to the recruiting rankings but has won a lot of games. How come?
Did 247 miss that much?

UNC fans has long been one of 247 biggest subscribing fan bases and its no coincidence that 247 rankings is simply to please the people that butter their bread. It's business 101.

Here's a cute exchange by Buck Sanders (Runs Inside Carolina/247 Sports)

Look up the other ranking systems and see how they rank unc and state's recruits this year. Their overall rankings with other schools.
Would that support your theory on 24/7 bias to unc?
You may as well cause I bet alt is already on it. :)

You cannot be serious with all of that? Let me take one minute to detail Asante's recruitment. First off, up until the day he committed, he was considered a heavy Virginia Tech lean and for good reason, they were the first to offer him so to believe some UNC bias caused his rise in the rankings is simply foolish. As a matter of fact, VT held 100% of 247's crystal balls for Asante up until 2 days before he committed to UNC.

As for Asante's rise through the rankings, it was simply a mirror of his recruitment as a whole. Asante was the quintessential late bloomer. He didn't receieve his first offer until Spring of 2018 and that was from Howard University. His first Power 5 offer didn't come until DECEMBER 3rd just 2 months ago, and that was from Virginia Tech. From December 3rd to February 1st, he picked up offers from TCU, Maryland, UNC, Miami, FSU, LSU, Nebraska, Baylor and Tennesee.

So if you have to ask what happened in those 3 weeks, maybe do some research before you start calling out 247 for some bias. Obviously, as BBD would say, the offer list coincides with the rise in rankings during the same time.

Do better.

Lunker you exposed nobody when it's already proven your own players have made large unexplained jumps as well. Or maybe it can be explained in that recruiting is fluid and maybe players once offered either cool off or players that were never offered, heat up.

It's ridiculous to think that players when given a rating 2 years in advance, will never change.

As for the Twitter exchange, how is a simple exchange of goodwill a sign of bias? LOL! IC wasn't even a 247 site up until a few short months ago. There is no bias. Only drama from ABCers who want to make excuses for Macks quick success.

I can't wait to see what the future holds.

Those other sites don’t have the subscriber base that 247 with Inside Carolina does.

To simply deny the fact that recruiting rankings is nothing more than a novelty to make your biggest subscribing base happy is merely turning a blind eye.

The proof is in the rankings. UNC has done less with more (according to rankings) or could it be the fact that UNC gets inflated rankings?

Lol, of course you dont! You’re one of their subscribers! If Buck said jump, you would say how far.

As far as the twitter exchange, the only thing missing was a “wink wink”

Or maybe it simply is that UNC has done less with more. You compiled 15 years of data to say that UNC's average in recruiting is 28th. Good.

Starting in 2018, do you know where UNC ranked colleges represented on NFL rosters? Yep you guessed it, 28th.

That's 1 point for 247.

Please, carry on. We need to laugh some more..................

did all the other services rank unc lower than 24/7? isn't that what you should be looking for to make the point they are biased for unc?
You can find this on PP if you wanted I bet.

There is no UNC bias. He did all of that data gathering only to find out that UNC's average class ranking is equal to that of it's standing on the NFL's roster ranking.

In other words, what UNC is bringing in and what they're putting out are exactly as predicted.

Kudos to 247.

The only thing Lunker proved is that UNC has underachieved since Mack left. That's about it.

So 247 mission statement is to rank high school players according to their NFL prospects.

Lol. Good one.

It proves that 247 properly identified talent that directly coincided with it's talent output.

Is there anything more a recruiting service can do to substantiate it's services? Get real.

Take a break Lunk. You're getting silly.

And just by taking a quick look, it looks like 247s rankings and NFL ranking had a 10 or less position discrepancy for EVERY SCHOOL you named.

There are 129 FBS teams.

Need they say more?

well here are the rankings of state and unc by three groups:
24/7 state 29 unc 32
rivals state 28 unc 31
espn state 31 unc 37

Does anyone see a bias for unc in the 24/7 rankings this year? rivals actually ranks them higher.

No,,, none at all. Mack and crew are recruiting like mad men. They could be ranked in the top 10 in the 2020 class. I like the direction UNC football is heading. There is a buzz with UNC football again.

Lol. You don’t get it.

The bias is in individual rankings.

3 players this year alone jump 1000+ spots in a matter of weeks after committing to UNC. Take away that bias and you don’t have an inflated team ranking.

Bump up a few players so UNC stays within shouting distance to make a large subscribing base happy.

But I have been told that the rankings are merely a ranking of their NFL prospects.

Projecting High School players to the NFL is what 247 is best at!! There even better than college coaches!

They wait for schools to offer then rank kids? Lol.

Wrong again? Still not wanting to talk about your own recruits? Lol.

You've already been proven wrong in that 247sports does a very good job at identifying talent for nearly every team you posted yet you keep on with this?

I get sticking to your guns but not when you've flat out been exposed.

Give it up. There is no bias.

LMAO! The underlying principle of recruiting services is to correctly identify and rank prospects. The only way that is possible is to best project their ability to play at the next level and subsequent levels.

You're trying to dumb down this argument because you know you've gotten exposed but NEWSFLASH, a recruits ranking and subsequent NFL prospects strikes right to the heart of the existence of these sites.

There's a reason that when you look up an NFL player in the 247sports database the first thing listed under their current player status, is where they were listed as a recruit. Not their NFL stats, accolades, whatever. Heck, not even which college they attended. Where 247 had them ranked in HS, that's what it shows.

The ruse is up. Just admit you are wrong.

Yes. They adjust rankings by evaluating and reevaluating players after each season, the same as every college in the land.

Are you really trying to imply that Asante doesn't deserve a rating boost, simply because he wasn't ranked higher to start as if player evaluation isn't fluid? Are you implying that every school that offered him after this season, was just a part of some bias? Are you implying that there can't be a logical explanation between the reevaluation correlating with the offer timeline, and that maybe he just became a better player this season?

Obviously, 247sports and everyone under the sun believing he was going Virginia Tech, gave him a boost as part of a grander conspiracy to benefit UNC.

That ought to explain it.
