Old Mossy Horns
3mi warm up, 5x600m repeats with 0.1mi rest between, remainder cooldown to get 8mi total.
Awesome man!!Well…in a moment of weakness and bad decisions, I donated an entry fee. 10.5mo… now to fill in the gaps with stepping stones, and build fitness, and more importantly, mental fortitude…..and figure out where I’m going to stay.
Said heck with the national champion, for the same money, I can do this, and turn it into a family vacation rather than just something solely centered around me.

Do it lol. Looking at hanging rock to pilot mt as a tune up… one of them anyway.Awesome man!!
I said I would never do an ultra. But this one sounds pretty cool. Got me thinking a little bit.
You doing 100k or 100 miles at Blackbeard?Do it lol. Looking at hanging rock to pilot mt as a tune up… one of them anyway.
That’s crazy!! I think I could talk myself into the 100k but not 100 miles!!100mi… that’s the attempt anyway. Swore I’d never be able to complete a marathon when I signed up for it, now I’m eyeing a sub-4 finish for my first. Won’t know for sure if that’s the case but regardless, I’m exponentially further along in my fitness and training than when I signed up. I legitimately questioned just being physically fit enough to do sub 6 (course cutoff).
Two different beasts, but when I signed up for the marathon, I’d ran one time, a double digit mileage. That was 10mi.
Now I’ve gaslit myself into believing it’s not worth the sweat and time into doing anything less than 10 unless it’s a recovery run or speed session![]()
If Im going to hurt, I want to hurt towards a buckle lol. That’s crazy!! I think I could talk myself into the 100k but not 100 miles!!
A friend of mine did a 100miler in Florida several years ago. He was a 5x Ironman including a Kona qualifier and he said it was the hardest thing he had ever done.
I wish you the best on your endeavor. It is fun to watch yourself get better and push yourself to do things you never thought possibe. Quite honestly that’s the only reason I do any of this. I’ll never win anything, but it’s that Type 2 fun.
He did the one in the Florida keys. He finished in around 23 hours. If Im going to hurt, I want to hurt towards a buckle lol.
Which 100 did your friend do. I’ve listened to a few podcasts where people talked about the Jacksonville or Daytona or whatever 100 and then the Keys 100 on another. Both said they were brutal from heat and humidity as well as typical exposure of a coastal road 100mi
Yeah I’ve heard it was absolutely brutal. I mean 100mi is 100mi, and I suppose there’s trade offs to everything. He did the one in the Florida keys. He finished in around 23 hours.
A PA I worked with did the same race and he actually crawled across the finish line. He had DNFed two previous 100 milers and said he was finishing no matter what.
That's awesome! Good luck!Well…in a moment of weakness and bad decisions, I donated an entry fee. 10.5mo… now to fill in the gaps with stepping stones, and build fitness, and more importantly, mental fortitude…..and figure out where I’m going to stay.

I need some professional advice. If I eat more DG shrimp, will I look like Adonis and feel greatThat's awesome! Good luck!
They no longer sell it where I'm atI need some professional advice. If I eat more DG shrimp, will I look like Adonis and feel great
That’s brutal and just torture!! No thanks!!Well dreams of sub 4 may be dwindling… race course is updated due to Helene closures and elevation pretty much doubled.
First half of course had three hills that made up the majority of the topo change. Now the first half is also done again… I.e it’s done 2x so those hills are done twice.
Kind of excited though, I like hills. Just not 245ft in 0.8mi at mile 25![]()
Just hoping to be able to maximize the downhills to make up for the additional uphill. Fine line between cruising and “making time” and killing the quads lol. That’s brutal and just torture!! No thanks!!
I just signed up for a local half marathon that’s on Saturday. I’ve ran the general course before and it’s got some decent hills but nothing too crazy. Should be just enough to make it interesting.
Charity chase half here in Hickory. Several of us from the hospital are running it. Plan is to have a good time, compete against each other and then go drink beers afterwards and make excuses about how we could have done betterJust hoping to be able to maximize the downhills to make up for the additional uphill. Nice! Which half? Probably going to pick up a half at LKN State Park in June with a buddy if my legs will let me by then.
