Within the next three years, they also plan to release vaccines to help both captive and wild deer populations.

How exactly would they go about vaccinating the wild deer populations!

Not so sure about the previously unknown bacterium. If that's the case, antibiotics would cure a deer. Most researchers have said it's cause by prions where there isn't any cure.

From what I saw of the press conference, that's what's so stunning about Dr. Bastion's research at LSU. TSEs and CWD have been his research specialty for years. Most everyone researching the topic thought CWD was caused by prions, but now it seems the prions are a by-product of the CWD, not the cause. At least that's what his experiments are suggesting.

Recognizing the haywire prions is one thing and seems to be pretty much universally accepted as the definition of CWD. So understanding why the prions go haywire would seem to be a logical step. If this Dr has in fact identified what causes the prions to go haywire, it certainly would appear to be a step in the right direction, especially if that cause can be treated.

I ask one question, why isn't the government putting money towards this research? Seems they aren't asking for a lot of $$ but they are asking for donations
