Crossbow String Wear

My son is using a crossbow and I was just curious as to the string wear on his. Does this need to be replaced? It’s where the serving is where it cocks.

Thanks Helium, I don’t know much about crossbows, just seemed like excess wear to me.

Waxing the string will help cut down on that.
I have a few for my excal looking the same. Need to have them re served.

You may try to polish the catch with a dremel tool and buffer wheel. Has helped with the two or three I have done. And yes it needs reserved and or replaced.

What are you using for rail lube? Some folks use vaseline but it’s petroleum and will actually break the string and serving down quicker

I’ve been using the Bohning rail lube since we’ve had it. I’m not sure what the previous owner used. I will also try polishing the catch. I appreciate all of the input on here. Y’all are awesome.
