Actually the North Mills River Unit is in the Pisgah NF.
At that time all hunts on the Pisgah & Nantahala were regulated in that there were checking stations which required checking in & out every day.

This is a pretty famous buck. At least in Georgia anyway.

This is the Walter Keel buck. It was killed in Crawford County Ga in 1971. It scores
210 ⅛"

Nice run of old Savage 99s on this page, and I think that is Fred Bear with the moose. He came to the 1st Dixie Deer Classic and signed a camo hat for me. Wish I knew were it was now.
