Cool lil’ fella

Was bushhogging my deer property yesterday and had this neat lil’ guy fly out of a dead snag right beside me. Red phase eastern screech owl.

That’s a favorite right there. Growing up they roosted right next to the house and heard them all the time. I had one stand That was close to their hole and watched them late evenings a bunch of times. One night with window down one hit the mirror and came in the truck. We put him on the dash and rode him around for a while before he gained his senses and flew out. It was a big deal

We were bowhunting a few days back and saw a great horned owl trying to get something in the weeds on the ditch bank. Turned out to be about a 3' timber rattler that he had in his talons when he flew off. One of the coolest things i've seen in years

We have screech owls around our property and hear them often in the evening & early mornings, but I don't believe I've ever seen one before.
