Concert For Carolina

I will be at an App State football game somewhere that day. Still hoping it is in Boone, and I think that is looking more promising with school being back open on the 16th. Otherwise I would likely be there and if the game is not in Boone, I may try to do both.

I started at 7,704 in the cue at 10:00 AM this morning

I would like to go, but I don't want to deal with all the traffic and mess that's going to cause. Last concert I went to in Charlotte took 2 hours before we could get out of the parking lot after the show, and we left before the last song was over trying to beat the crowd out.

I'll be away in Virginia for a Jewish holiday and Shabbat then. Everything happens either on Shabbat or a holiday.

Yeah, I don't see much of a mosh pit at this show  Props to these rednecks for playing for free, but why didn't they mix it up music wise? Why have 8+ groups that only sing about losing stuff, hating stuff, missing stuff, all songs which can be lernt on the guitar in a 1 day lesson?

;)

BTW, I only recognized Luck Combs and James Taylor and Sheryl Crow and Keith Urban and Eric Church. Not much of a lineup if you ask me ;).

At least the rich men north of r ichmond ain't on there!

But seriously, have any celebrities other than Dolly Parton gotten involved? I know the tragedy is considered rather local, but at some point I'd expect it to become worthy of MAJOR celebrity endorsements.

Now now. I think you’re being a little closed minded. But fear not, I’ve got the cure. Surely you’ve heard of heavy metal powerhouse Gojira? Check this out. They played one of their tracks for none other than Luke Comb’s drummer and had him improvise his own parts to it. Enjoy

Im a metal head too. for all my 50 years. Kudos to those who want to play for free. I hope it brings a buncha money.

ST8, you gotta check out Billy Strings. DO it now. lol. That dude is killer on the guitar. Best act of the lineup by a mile.

Morgan Wallen did a big fundraiser in Knoxville Tuesday I believe. He brought Theo Von and Tony Vitello (head baseball coach VOLS). Wallen also donated $500k I believe

I was gonna say same Strings is best of the bunch still not good enough for me go to a concert I don't do crowds but he makes good music I'd say lit people will be surprised.

From radio I've heard of quite few doing this or that. Something about Aldean and Trump fund me site raising 7 million heard on way work

The fact that you don’t know who Billy Strings is - qualifies your critique 🤦🏻‍♂️

If you can name a better guitarist than Keith Urban, you can attempt to save face. I’ll wait.

I look at this concert as a way to help the state heal. I bought tickets for my wife and I and our Asheville friends. Looking forward to it.

I heard some of the tickets were $ 1500. dollars pretty sure that's up front but man that's steep.
Should have made it twice that if they could have sold them. This is not about entertainment, it is about raising money the best way artists know how. The entertainment is a bonus.

Take the money you would have spent to go to this fund-raiser and send it to Samaritan's Purse or one of the other reputable teams, and make a larger impact with your money.

Or, do both. It's not a dichotomy. Help any and every way you want to.

Me thinks maybe you need to do a little research. 100% of this money is going to those very groups that you are talking about. Everything from the venue to artists etc have all been donated so there is no overhead eating into this one save maybe the ticket master fees.

We tried to buy tickets. I got in right at 1000 and I was the 41K person in line. All that was left when I got a chance were tickets $500 or more. If anybody has 2 tickets they don’t end up wanting I’ll probably take them

I have done the research. Regardless of where the concert money goes, there is all the extra you will spend on travel, food, etc. For me, I would rather send that extra money to help someone rather than entertain me. As someone said, do both if you can.

My pure guess is that they'll raise at least $10M for relief aid by doing this concert. I can't in any scenario understand how that's not admirable.

I've personally given my time, money and supplies......as well as opened up my home to victims of this disaster. I'll continue to do so.

I (100% respectfully) think you should rethink your take on this event. There's an avenue for you (and others) to make a donation to the listed charities (without attending the event)...right there on the event site, if you still feel the event itself is detrimental to the cause.

It's plain and simple. You spend your money they way you want and let the next man spend his money the way his wife tells him to. don't worry about his money or his time. just worry about yourself.

You guys missed the point altogether, so I guess I will apologize. I admire the concert and those involved, including performers and ticket buyers. Some could not get tickets, and in the spirit of helping those that suffered, I hope those without tix will still send the money they would have spent. Sorry for working you guys up into making assumptions. I won't let it happen again. For the record, my money, supplies and time went to the mountains as well, and will moreso when I am able. Thanks to all that have and will help.
