Effective during the regular season but death in the tournament, unless they basically play perfectly. Playing that slow leaves the other team in games and anything can happen late in a 2-3 possession game.
Dude....you can make up and say anything you want to. Mike K. built the Duke program into what it is today. He didn't score a single point in any of their wins, so it's the team's/university's legacy.
My coach won 'Coach of the Year' my sophomore year in college. He got on the bus after we won the disctricts (we were NAIA back then), where he received the award, and said "thanks guys for winning me another award".
Saying the legacy is K's and not Duke's is about the pettiest thing I've heard a UNC fan say.

Is UCLA success Wooden’s or UCLAs? Chicago’s success MJ’s or the Bulls? NCSU or Jimmy V? Duke was there before K and was entirely irrelevant. K built that entire place and the legacy goes with him until they prove they can maintain it without him. There are plenty examples. Alabama comes to mind.
Are the trophies at the coaches'/players' houses or in the Universities'/teams' trophy cases?

Trophy goes to whoever wrote the check. Dukes legacy is they didn’t fire K when it was tough, but make no mistake, it’s K’s legacy.
You should just admit your POV was dumb and move along.

Because he's a great coach able to get more out of his talent than anyone else coaching today?
He holds players long enough for them to improve enough to help the program- not just their personal fortune.
If he's not your top choice for coaches in the ACC- who is?

I didn’t say he wasn’t good at coaching his style. He’s a great coach and very likable but his brand of basketball is not. It’s awful to watch when you’re used to run and gun in the acc. That brand of ball rarely wins natties…..ask the big ten.

I’ll believe that first part when I see it. The closest the big ten has gotten to winning a title in recent memory when UVA won it lol.
Dean is the reason the shot clock was created. He wasn’t winning titles but he was innovating the game.

Tony B is the best coach in the ACC and has been for probably the past 5 years, I just hate that his style of basketball wins games because it means he will keep doing it and we have to watch it haha
It’s good for the game though and his strategy of recruiting kids to a system and building top 200 talent into studs by their junior year is so effective. It’s what the scandal forced Roy to do and it worked. It’s what Jay Wright did at nova and it worked. It’s what has killed Duke when they went away from it to 1 and done, same for Coach Cal. The big money folks lost long enough in one and done to see the transfer portal fix the problem for them. Now you don’t have to develop a guy, you just have to pay him enough to leave the team who believes in him and developed him. The transfer portal is as big a joke as one and done is.

I still remember watching Roy’s press conference after accepting the job at unc. He said “we are going to run, and run, and run…..and then we’re going to change the pace a little and run some more” something like that. It wasn’t long and they were running people off the floor.he damn near killed the game and never did adjust to the three point world.

I watched the tenn-Purdue game last night. 78 free throws in 40 minutes? Sheesh. College basketball officiating is as bad as ever. If they let those 2 teams play Tennessee beats them by 10+

You’ll get no argument from me. I am well aware that unc, duke, uk, ku get the calls at home. Always have. Doesn’t make it right. I like to see it called fair and I like to see them let the kids play physical. One of the major reasons that the games are so low scoring over the last 10 years is because they call the games so tight.I sure hope they let them play when TN comes to CH in a few days.

Start listening- the bias for him is incredible. I thought Charles Barkley was going to cry talking about his rapport with his players and his ability to nurture and develop them. And he's one of the more objective analysts usually.
Nothing like it since K in the 90s - but he deserved it- shakka- not so much.

First half was rough. Second half they started making shots. Carmac Ryan and Ingram had the best games and withers had another solid game. He affects the game in many ways.

Yeah I really listened to most of the first half on the radio and watched the last 7 or so minutes.
Last years team would have let them go on a run to start the 2nd and folded

Carolina wenrt on a 32-6 run in the second half. It seems like it’s been quite some time since that has happened. If a couple shooters can find their shot each game this team is very hard to defend. So far they’re much improved from last year.
