College/acc football 2024-25

Well, I expect Penn State to lose in the Big Ten Championship since Franklin has a worse record than Day in big games. I was hoping for Ohio State to win.

The runner-ups in conference championships get screwed on number of games played. The conference champion will get a first round bye so they play a total of 16 games to become national champion. The third place team of a conference that make the playoffs play a total of 16 games to become national champion. The conference runner-up that make the playoffs play a total of 17 games to become national champion. One reason why I was hoping Ohio St would win. Penn State would then have finished third in the Big Ten, got a first round home game and only play 16 games. Now I have to hope they upset Oregon to get the first round bye.
so now you think this is a screwed up system? Or you staying with the "what could be better" stance?

I don’t think you have to worry about Penn St making it past the first round. Franklin is a bigger choke artist than Day.

It's better than the old days where coaches and sports writers picked the champions. Penn State went undefeated two straight seasons in 1968 and 1969 and didn't win the championship. Any type of playoff system would help there. It doesn't matter what playoff system you have, there will be arguments for the team left out. In college basketball, 68 teams make the tournament and the 69th team is arguing they should be in. I think at most football could be expanded to 16 teams. Football is far more physical than basketball so adding a fifth round would be too much wear and tear.

FCS does it every year. IMO 12 is too many, should have capped it at 8 with no byes. Use the bcs formula to determine who the top 8 are, regardless of conference.

Ohio State should just go ahead and fire Ryan Day today. He can't win a big game to save his life. 4 years in a row! I don't even care about the playoffs. WTH was Chip Kelley doing on offense? Fire him too... we had all the tools in the toolbox, and you still couldn't beat the team up north. This should have been a cake walk. It looked like you were trying to lose.
I'm sure you've noticed the bags under his eyes are 3 times the size was 4 years ago 😉 but yeah he is not the coach for big time program even his so called big wins if broken down aren't really BIG. His only hope is win it all or he's finished IMO his buyout isn't astronomical that they can't afford it. you can not have that much talent and lose to a sorry arse Mich team who only threw for 60ish yards and 2 picks. Mich has had zero passing load the box and bring the corners no way should they have gave up that many rusing yards. I agree totally on Day but there is plenty blame go around for that loss at home there is just no excuse.

Was thinking about that 17 to win it yesterday that's whole lot college games for a program I never thought that'd be possible.

I guarantee no one in USA could see Clemson and SC both in playoffs but it's a real possibility. SMU is severally overrated only played 1 ranked team and lost to a very mediocre BYU. Clemson will handle them then SC resume looks better beating ACC champ I think that's enough unless Bama gets in cause Ga wins SEC that last spot is gonna be super close splitting hairs. Glad TN is getting home game that'll be fun in Knoxville.

I thought the defense played their hearts out. It wasn't the defensive players or Knowles fault that the offense put them back on the field every 4 downs. Even after giving the offense amazing field position.

didnt Michigan fans want harbaugh fired for not beating OSU in his first years. he was 3-5 against osu and was a hero in the end- maybe day does the same.
They are way too invested in that one game season stuff. It's what you get when you have a suck ass league with no competition. Maybe that goes away with the expansion. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah your right I wasn't talking D when saying plenty blame go around I shoulda said head coach, O coordinator, offensive line, QB,

With Day this goes way beyond that 1 game a year even though it's huge to them up there he has had plenty time to and opportunity to prove himself. This is a team that has put so many good players in pros he has had tons talent and quite honestly hasn't been able capitalize on it on elite level. There are plenty good coaches that are no suitable for top tier teams he is one at least till now. He's had long enough leash to prove himself more than most get. Just pull up his record in big games then you gotta look at it truthfully because they give him credit fir example beating IRISH couple years ago ranked 5 or so at time but ended up 5 loss team. More so than beating Mich is his playoff failure he beat a very subpar weak Clemson team once then got smashed in next game. I'd have look up but in reality he is like 1-7 against true top 5 teams and 1-3 in playoffs again against very weak Clemson team and got killed next game. Now that's great for most teams but not a team that spent 20 million compiling the best talent in country and the past talent he's had. It ain't over for him though he still has most talented team all he's gotta do is win playoffs which I still say they will I'm not convinced even he can screw thos up not till I see it with my own eyes.

That game is all that matters, if that goes away, then I'll stop watching them play every Saturday. That game is bigger than winning the big 10, bigger than bowl games, playoffs, or national championships. Those are all icing on the cake, problem is we have no cake.....

This rivalry is older than football itself.

psu meaningless?

Nevermind the fact that our pussy-assed beta coach whined, cried and apologized for it.

It’s more like, don’t plant the flag against an absolute disgrace of a program currently. Beating FSU meant nothing and you should act like it. Plant the flag when it means something, if you always do it it doesn’t mean anything.

He socks.
That's shorter to say.
The school draws players too good not to win the amount of games they've been winning.
Ryan Day sucks and is incompetent at his job and should be fired. That's it in a nutshell. The school pays $20 Milllion for a starting team of 22 players and they lose to the BIG BLUE ???
He's a joke. Replace him right now... before the end of the season.
Carolina fans would love to have him.

If Carolina hires him maybe he can stay at your place for awhile. Maybe he can teach you something about football. Maybe together Carolina might win 7 games.

That's an argument for not storming the field. When it comes to humiliating the nulls no effort is too pointless or unnecessary.

I checked the rankings.... bamuuuh only team with 3 losses going to playoffs. Figures. I hope they get curb stomped first game. Several major injuries wouldn't hurt, either.
Those aren't playoff rankings you won't know till Tues who's ranked and seeded for playoffs it's gonna be razor thin between few teams like SC.

I wouldn't say meaningless as much as irrelevant and no real threat. This goes beyond fans wanting him gone this will go directly to the ones that ponied up 20 million for this roster they paid good money for a championship and he better dang well deliver. The mich game will not mean anything except to some diehard fans if he wins title but to lose both I'd be shocked if he's back. Like I said he's nit new there he's had enough years to know what your getting by now not mention bringing on Chip Kelly as O coordinator I knowot don't care for him but he's like Lane heck of a respected O mind coordinator more was expected.
