Canes 2024-2025

On to the off season and go Oilers..

Having to play two rookie D men became a real problem. Nikishin is going to be a beast but he missed two plays last night that directly lead to goals, but I am not blaming him by any means, unfortunate that his first NHL games had to be in the ECF.. depth on the blue line is a problem that has to be addressed we might could have gotten away with one dude going down but not two. On a side note I am really looking forward to hearing what was actually wrong with Chatfield. Seems like we have been saying for years that the PP has to be better.. relative to last year it was this year, relative to league standard in the playoffs not so much.

Going into this series, I expected that they would sign Orlov to a 1 or 2 year team friendly contract and let Burns go.. now I am not so sure. Orlov played like arse for all but game 4 and was burned on the game winner trying to use his hands and arms on the end boards vs getting his body on the man and using his hands to get on the puck..

Of the regulars.. the Unrestricted Free Agents are :

Burns
Orlov
Roslivic
Fast (missed the whole year after neck injury)
Robinson

They account for 22.5M in salary.. We know Niki replaces one of the blue liners on a rookie deal..

quite a few of the farm team guys are RFAs but I would expect most of them to sign 2 way deals at the minimum or be used in trades.

Future is bright, and full of potential.. but man the place was buzzing after Jarvis tied it last night only to get the air let out the balloon late. Only one team gets to end the season not disappointed, hate it was not our team but to make a run to the final 4 in a rebuilding year says a lot about long term potential.

Well the season has come to the end congrats Panthers..... and congrats to whoever won the NC H& F bracket challenge. 😉

Fast retired a week or so ago.
I like Burns but his age is staring to show in the mistakes he's making. He's likely retire or move on.
Orlov, meh, he's hot and cold.
Roslivic and Robinson hopefully stay.

Glad I finally chanced it to read this post. I had fully assumed it was some love fest with that college program in southern Florida. It was going to cost this site a bad yelp review if I had to mention it was infested with fandom equivalent to cockroaches or maggots.

Picked up Defenseman K'Andre Miller from the Rangers for a provisional 1st round pick, a 2nd round pick, and Scott Morrow.

Miller signed @ $8.75 X 8 years. That signing took Burns or Orlov's spot.

I hear they're still in the hunt for Nikolaj Ehlers, who has decided to sit back and see what offers come in.

Hurricanes still need a #2 Center with size and grit. I believe a right shot Defenseman would help, since they game up Morrow in the Miller deal.

Ehlers has now signed. That still does not fill the hole at 2nd line Center.. but so far I like how things are shaping up. still have cap room to work with either to start the season or at the deadline.

All this cap space and very few top end FA's out there.
