Burning dove field ?

What’s the consensus on burning a sunflower field to dove hunt? I’ve heard some people say the oil on the sunflower seed causes the seed to burn also
I’ve just always bushhogged

It’s really hard to see the doves with all the smoke......

Couldn’t help myself!

I've never done sunflowers, but I've burned wheat and it was covered in doves. I've been on field fires where we're rolling up hoses and doves are already dropping in.
I don't have much experience with sunflowers, but I could imagine that they could be harder to burn since there isn't much fuel on the ground like wheat or millet has..
If you decide to, let us know how it turns out

I concur. I’ve hunted over burned wheat several times with much success. Supposedly it keeps the seed from sprouting. Never burned sunflowers though, so I’m not sure.

They were burning public fields, asked game warden about it, explained that it causes sunflower seeds to pop open, better feeding for the doves.
