dudes - you are arguing / advocating apples and oranges,,,

as explained earlier, it requires a STRING to even get considered as archery gear,,,,

those so called "air bows" are basically pellet rifles that shoot a dart,,,not archery gear

but have fun what iff'in and worryin' on nonsense

Uh Tennessee has already legalized airbows in their archery seasons.

Its not nonsense once one states does it and more might follow.

The WRC had no interest in legalizing crossbows but the legislature did it anyway in the wake of the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990 (for disabled people).

States see declining hunter numbers and want to make hunting easier and expand opportunities.

Just posting FYI but these rules on archery hunting date back to 1955 (except the minimum poundage has been lowered since then and crossbows legalized)

The prohibition on barbed arrows dates to 1955 so maybe technology has changed a little since then .
