Old Mossy Horns
What a week of fishing and dodging tough winds. Sunday afternoon we launched at Carolina Beach ramp at Snows Cut. Ran around checking water conditions out. Winds had the inlet looking real rough.

Monday launched an hit the Cape Fear River. Hit a few spots and fought the winds. We did end up with 1 keeper flounder and 1 keeper red, both invited to the freezer.

Tuesday we managed to get out the inlet for a little while. Ran down to Sheepshead Rock. Usually a good place this time of year. Caught 1 nice Spanish, but nothing else. Could not even get anything to bite on the bottom except a few small black sea bass. Hit a few spots on the way in but nothing to play with. Ran all the way back to the Liberty Ship out side Masonboro Inlet. Still nothing much to play with.

Wednesday it was on. Hit AR372, aka 5 mile box cars, trolled for a little while and saw fish busting. Put the trolling gear up and grabbed our light tackle with small metal jigs .e jig fish, diamond jigs and Spanish Candy, and casted at busting fish. It was a great time the next few hours catching nice bonito and some nice Spanish mackerel.

Thursday morning we were hoping for a repeat of the day prior. Fish did not want to play well. Only hit a few blues at AR 372 so decided to move. Moved back towards land about a mile and saw fish bust. We stayed in that area for a few hours casting at a few busting fish. Mostly blind casting and letting the jig sink almost to the bottom then jig it back to the boat. Again we caught some nice Spanish and some bonito.

Threw some Spanish and bonito on the grill this afternoon in aluminum foil, took it off and squeezed some fresh lemon juice on them and devoured them.

So get on out there and catch some. Fish are anywhere from about 3 miles to 5 miles out. We did see some bonito just out side of Masonboro Inlet
