A little PRC fun

Bedded the rear side of the base with the Devcon. Gonna wait till tomorrow to do the front.
I suspect I’ll pack it full and just snug it enough to squish the Devcon out a little and check it with a steel rule to make sure I don’t pull the front down too far.

Looks like I may get to do the front tonight and let it set overnight.
Shoe polish pulled right off once the mixing card would resist a thumbnail.

The first picture is the front, but it shows the detail of what got filled.

I have always bedded front and rear of rails at the same time. Curious why you did one end at a time. Hoping to pick up a tip here.
Because I don’t know what I’m doing and some guy on YouTube did it like this. Their theory was lay the rail on the gun and rock it back and forth and see if one side keeps the other side from touching. Bed that side, then fill the void on the floater next.
Some folks did both sides at the same time.

I’d probably do them both at the same time next time. I may have lost a couple MOA on the 20MOA rail, but it’s not like I really needed all 20.

Fair enough, I just never saw it done that way. I doubt if you lost any elevation. Good job! Bedding a rail is often overlooked.

It's easy to see who shoots and who doesn't. 😃

First trip out to the range today.
Hornady outfitter CX 160 were 1.25-1.5” and about 2880 on average.

Hornady ELD-X shot a lot slower out of this barrel than the old barrel. About an inch group. I just about gagged when I saw 2780.

Top group is the first 100yd group I shot after finding paper at 25 yds.
I dialed down and shot another group at about a minute vertical, then put in the magnetospeed and it tossed the next two left about an inch just from the bayonet being on there.

Last year/old barrel was liking the Federal ELD-X.
This new barrel likes it too. No cherry-picking. I shot three groups. Two plain groups and one for speed.

Took long enough to get it fixed. But glad you did. I've had issues with a Christensen 450 Bushmaster ejecting. I've changed the extractor, ejector spring, plunger (a kit they sent for free) etc and still doing exact same thing. It's frustrating when something expensive and brand new doesn't work like it should. Their quality control is lacking IMO.

I’m gonna have to make a few more trips out before I stop holding my breath, but it ran great this first trip out. I’m optimistic right now.
