5-9 live

Just bumped a long beard off the roost at 7:22. I was in one field and heard him gobble across the pond pretty good on the limb. So I started creeping my way around and up the drainage to that pond. Heard some wings flap, then he went quiet for a while. Heard him gobble a couple times more and it sounded like he was out in the field. Crept up closer to that pond to set up off the edge of the field and heard a couple putts. Looked up and saw his beard hanging right before he flew off. Backing out now, drying off for a minute, then heading to another spot to let him chill for the morning.

Wet & quiet outside Creedmoor this morning. Tweety birds and traffic noises are it for me.

** Edit:
Ended up calling in a pair of jakes to 25 yards @ 12:20. They got bored looking for something and ambled off about 5 minutes later.

Going back to the same place tomorrow, as the landowner has been hearing longbeards gobble most evenings back there this week.

no gobbles heard, things about got western with me and a hen though. I jumped her off a nest and instead of running or flying she started going in circles around me in quarter strut like she was gonna fight me. About had to show her my kung fu. With that kind of bravery she’ll make a good momma, or a dead one…

Had 2 gobbling good. One didn’t work as far back on the field edge and snuck in the woods, so I’m back here now. Been a quiet two hours. But had some nice young fellas visit the decoys

Well had one fired back up at 10:45, would gobble for 30 minutes at every cackle and purr I threw at them. Would not budge with 75 yards from me in some thick woods. Then I watched four hens go walk and get with them. Season is over, best of luck to the guys given it one more round tomorrow. This was the hardest season I’ve ever had, but luckily got to see a ton of wildlife and excited for the numerous two-year-olds that will be on the farms next Year

Heard one on roost gobble couple times but that was all. Very foggy this morning in my area. Stayed until 9:30 and had to do some Mother’s Day shopping 😁

Chris and I heard nada on the roost. Soft bumped a few birds with red heads later on. Then got one fired up at about 10:30 that walked perpendicular to him at about 80 yards gobbling the whole way.

Meanwhile I’m crawled up in a root ball 100 yards away facing the other direction unable to hear anything except his last gobbles as he walks out of our lives :ROFLMAO:

Can’t ask for much more considering the conditions

Gonna knock out a project or 2 here at work, then its off to Ohio to hook up with Turkeyfoot and Bartender Bob.
Im staying until 1 dies or their season closes...
