That wraps up my gun season in the western zone. Only saw 2 does and 1 little button buck today. The story of my whole season, doe, after doe, after doe.
Oh well...back at it with the archery gear on Sunday.
Finally ended up finding some rubs, of course the “just made” freshest one were at the end of the ridge I started out in the morning, down where the deer went. Stood beside a tree the last 30 minutes down there after making my loop around, just squirrels and one loud owl and woodpecker. Hopefully I can fill a NC tag on a decent buck next week down at Jordan.
Finally broke the ice with a doe at 5:10 PM. 30-30 dropped her at 90 yards in Anson.
This was about 15 minutes after a 5 point chased a doe past me, with 3 yearlings tagging along. Didn’t have a chance at a shot.
