16 Gauge Reloading

If anyone could check their old manuals and look for information on Unique powder in 16ga loads, i would greatly appreciate it. Many new manuals have very little 16 gauge info. I have lyman, alliant, and a couple others, but its hard to find a load with components i have.

Here’s what I have out of my buckshot loading manual from ballistic products.

The only data I could find is in the Alliant Reloader’s Guide:
16 gauge; 2 3/4; 1 1/8oz shot; Unique; Fio 616 primer; 20.5 grs; 9900psi; 1185 FPS; listed for Fiocchi Plastic Shells

Side note - I just shot 25 16gauge shells this afternoon at some clays. They were the old Peters Victor Plastic shells. I was going to toss them since I do not reload 16g. They are still in a plastic bucket in my garage. If you want them drop me a PM and we will see if we are close enough to make it worth your while; no charge.

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate the offer on the hulls. We are a couple counties away. I dont know if you are into reloading for that gauge, but it seems like reloading can cut my costs to around $5.00 a box. I have the alliant loads for 1-1/8 ounce loads.....but finding 1oz and 7/8oz is tough.

In all reality, 1-1/8 oz in a 16 is fairly substantial and really more of a magnum load.

Im going to probably join 16 gauge society and try to get ahold of the big spreadsheet they have going around. I think it is like $20 to join and they have a mazzive spreadsheet of tested loads.

I checked some of my older manuals and only found a couple with 1 ounce of shot.

What hull are you using?? Active, Federal plastic, Fiocchi, Remington SP plastic or Winchester compression, that is what my manuals go by for the load. I have several Lyman manuals that have 16 gauge but the lightest they show are 1 ounce loads.

I have winchester, remington, and fiocchi loads. Claybuster wads. Fiocchi primers. Unique powder.

Im loading 7/8oz loads but i have interpolated multiple data sources.
