I don't believe the market will....

Betsy Stevenson an opinion economist on Bloomberg right now has just said people are quitting their jobs, getting better jobs, and naming their price, etc. Literally in the same thought and next sentence she said she doesn't think the market is going to correct any inequities.

LOL.

I dont believe the news reports will ever figure simple answers to their amazement that companies can't find enough workers.
Latest example American airlines- canceling hundreds of flights.
They cant bring themselves to say" Potential employees arent working because they can survive by not working with current supplements."
Far easier to just get pissed at AA.

Correcting inequities is not the market's effin job.

Yet, that is exactly what it does and is doing.

Free market - Don’t like your situation? You’re free to change it.

This is the situation she reported.

Fascism - Don’t like your situation? Too bad. The “elitists” have decided what is best for you.

This is the situation she is calling for

I read the same thing yesterday and had the exact same reaction as you are.

I already have plenty of reasons to hate airlines. LOL

We've not seen anything yet....but it's coming soon.
We've had it so good that we don't remember what bad is, but we are just getting a taste.
When the US economy has to correct itself from loss of revenue, and can't borrow money and pretend it's income, then we'll see that elections really do have consequences.
Even Reuters has to spin it so that we think it's not so bad, but read between the lines.

If not for the uncertainty that accompanies the current slate of office holders, I'd almost welcome a little socioeconomic instability.

Antifa going hungry cause mommy & daddy can't pay their food, and there's nothing left to loot.

welfare money fading like an old BLM T-shirt hanging on a street sign.

Packs of ne'er-do-wells looking for anything they can eat or sell.

The only bad part is I'll actually have to shovel on an SSS event. No gas for the tractor....

You can bet on one thing, the same pot that keeps Antifa and BLM going will never run dry. It's a pot unlike anything we can even imagine.
And with this administration you can bet that anything proposed that would put people back to work is going to be labeled as "racist" and will soon be buried under more give away programs.
They aren't even trying to hide the Marxist agenda anymore, they are all in.

This favorite meme is being stretched to the ridiculous. Some low wage workers may stay home instead of working due to government supplements. But to say it's the reason for American Airline flights being cancelled just doesn't make sense. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the mean airline attendants salary is $59,150, airline mechanics salary is $66.440 and airline pilots, copilots and flight engineers is $186,870. The government supplements are not high enough to persuade workers with these salaries to sit at home.

This is a simple case of demand ramping up much faster than being able to hire and rehire workers to fill the positions. The lowering of Covid restrictions across the country was sudden and demand for travel ramped up quickly. Here is TSA checkpoint numbers for the last 3 years.

Two years ago, there were close to 2.5 million travelers on a daily basis. The first time the number exceeded 2 million was on 6/11 which is still almost 700,000 less than the same day two years ago. Just in the last month, the number of travelers increased by around 500,000 from 1.5 million. Doing the math, that is a 33% increase in travelers in 30 days.

I know you don't MSM news but here is an article on the shortage of pilots.

Do you think pilots are sitting at home drinking beer and watching TV for their $300 government check when the average salaray is $186k?

Do the pilots, mechanics, and attendants load the plane? Clean it? Fuel it etc? Whole lot of low wage folks behind the scenes that are sitting at home…

Correcting inequities is not the market's effin job.
The markets job is like the wind.

create stability where there isn’t any.
apply pressure to low pressure systems and back off when the pressure is high.

Do people not get why socialism is a 20th century concept dreamed up by a dude with too much time on his hands?

trade, barter, and open reactive markets are what really drove human existence from the beginning.
would there have been Columbus or the great Silk Road without capitalism? Nope. They’d have all sat at some govt home waiting on their EBT chicken to drop an egg

Interesting that American seems to be the only one having problems. Maybe MSM and DS have singled them out but seems fishy.
